Squash: KL Open sekarang ialah Nicol David KL Open
Menurut thestar, CIMB KL Open Squash Championships sekarang dikenali sebagai CIMB Nicol David KL Open. Hal ini demikian bagi memberi penghargaan kepada pemain squash negara yang sudah memegang pemain squash No 1 sejak tahun 2006 hingga kini.
The CIMB KL Open Squash Championships, from March 26-31, will now be known as the CIMB Nicol David KL Open. This is to honour and recognise the squash queen’s feat in winning a record sixth world title.
“Nicol is a national icon and arguably Malaysia’s most successful sportsperson ever. We decided to rename the KL Open as a tribute to her so that her achievements are remembered and celebrated annually,” said CIMB group chief executive Datuk Seri Nazir Razak.The 28-year-old Nicol, who has been the world No. 1 since August 2006, won the prestigious women’s World Open for a sixth time in Rotterdam last November.
